My 73 TR6 has never had a working heater in it. Power was never hooked up
to it and I was never sure what would happen if I actually opened the heater
valve and let water run into the core. As a result, for the past 10 years
I've just left well enough alone. However, recently some industrious mice
decided to stockpile food in every last nook and cranny of my ventilation
system. In order to clean the mess out I had to pull out all the pipes and
the heater itself. Quite a mess! Anyway, I took the opportunity to rebuild
a heater spare unit I had. I pressure tested the heater core itself, bench
tested the motor, replaced all the foam seals and, generally, made sure the
spare unit was in good working condition.

This past weekend I started reinstalling things but I've run into a problem
connecting power.

According to my manual and wiring diagram, the hot wire coming to the heater
switch on the dash is supposed to be a green wire. From this hot wire, a
green/black and a green/yellow go to the heater unit itself. The
green/black and green/yellow are right there on the heater unit where you;d
expect. No problem there. Unfortunately, the green wire that's supposed to
be hot is nowhere to be found on my harness. From what I can find in my
manual, the green hot wire should be in the same portion of the harness as
the ignition wiring but, of course, no green wires are there. As a matter
of fact, I can't find any green wires in the whole mess that aren't
accounted for. I could, of course, just splice something in but, I'd prefer
to do it "right". Unfortunately, figuring out what's "right" in this mess
that I inherited behind the dash in this car does not seem to be an easy
thing to do.

Has anyone out there ever worked on the wiring behind/under the dash of a 73
to be able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks for any help.
