Richard---IF you could raise the door glass the 1/2 inch you say is needed,
then you would have to be careful when closing the doors when using the soft
top, if you intend to use the soft top again.
I've seen some hardtops that do not have a great fit to the door glass. In my
case, the SOFT top/glass had no gaps but the hardtop left too much room with
the original(?) top seals. Some custom seals were used to get it right. Now I
can run with either top and have a decent seal.
Take another look to see if the other metal parts of the top fit the body as
they should. It sounds like something needs to come down more.
