Thanks for the many replies on this subject. The Commer van solution
seems to fit what I have the best. It is obvious that there is a large
range of gearbox ratios available to fit this box. I will certainly end
up with the only Alpine around which can be rented out for stump pulling.
I'm still in need of the info about the fitted length of the Alpine
overdrive adapter. With that, I can figure out how much longer this new
installation, with the slightly longer adapter, will be, and
consequently by how much I may have to shorten the Alpine O/D propeller shaft.
