Funny, I asked for the number 1s on my order form, they sent them to me on
magnet, worked great on my Corvette. lol I did specify on my order form
that it was for a Corvette. I also ordered SSL for my car, they are crazy on
there prices. I would love to see it like Pro/Club Rally, you can buy the
format disk and go to any sign shop you want.

Thank you,

You knew I had to respond to this one since I complained so much at the
outset:

I think, in retrospect, I did not (and still do not) object to the idea.
The main problem I personally had was with the supplier. Initially, I was
trying to get the car graphics done to be consistent with the Pro Solo
package, and called the SCCA supplier for the specs on the class designation
which she gave me, very reluctantly. While she gave me the font and size,
she neglected to tell me that class designation was done as the negative
part of a rectangular piece. Since I had never seen the final graphics, I
ordered EPL in the font and size she gave me. This, of course, was wrong so
I had to reorder the class letters. When John ordered his package, he asked
for 123 since we understood that the 1, for two driver cars, automatically
came on magnetic material (it did for everyone else I know). His package
came with the entire 123 on vinyl. When I called to ask that we either be
reissued the 1s on magnetic material or be sent the magnetic material so we
could mount the 1s ourselves, I was told that the magnetic mounting was not
automatic and that some cars were just numbered over 100 so they had no way
of knowing which cars were two drivers. I then ordered L2 class
designations (which they argued did not exist) and magnetic 1s for which I
was charged close to $40.00!! (Note that I could have gotten the entire
package for $25 had I been smart enough to ask for it.) I complained about
the outrageous charge and subsequently received two cards saying they
appreciated my business and several massages on my answering machine wanting
to explain why they felt justified in charging me so much. I really do not
want to be forced to deal with these people again. If ProSolo decides to
mandate graphics this year, I sure hope that they define what they want and
let us get it from whoever we want. I have a very good graphics supplier
and I prefer giving my business to him.

That aside, I think the idea may have been ok but something got lost in the
implementation. The cars didn't really look all that consistent, largely
because we drive cars with a vast array of body styles, shapes, and sizes.
If we all drove Neons, we could make the cars look consistent. We don't and
we can't. If ProSolo chooses to mandate graphics in the future I hope they
solicit member input before they decide what to use. I suspect that we
could have saved them a great deal of trouble if they had asked us ahead of
time what would work and what wouldn't (or even acted as if input from the
membership would be heard).

Ok, I'm through whining.

Karen
