Sometimes they do. I was sitting on the side of the freeway when the cam
belt broke on my Escort. Minnesota State Trouper stopped and talked to me.
Pushed my car onto a surface street so I could park it at the entrance to a
bible college. Then he gave me a ride to a restaurant. I called my wife
from there and we towed the hulk home with a Suburban.

He could have left me for the "highway helpers" in the green pickup trucks,
but he wanted the highway clear now. He didn't have to give me a ride to a
restaurant. Once I was off the freeway, I was no longer his problem.
