TWO back to back top flight Nationals warm up events featuring BOTH
(sort of) 2001 Solo Nationals course designers:

Saturday Night August 4th - Houston Region's first ever Twi-Night Event,

spnsoered by ProAm, featuring a blatant rip off of Karen Babb's infamous

1999 Nationals course, tweaked slightly to stay safely away from a
couple light poles. This event will be run under the BRIGHT LIGHTS of
the huge parking lot at Gulf Greyhound Park just South of HOUSTON,
TEXAS, using the ever popular "split night" format. Registration for the

"evening" group opens at 4:00 PM with first car off at 6:00 PM, with
"night" group registration opening at 8:30 PM with first car out at
approximately 9:45 PM. What better way to prepare than taking a run on
this challenging course at 1:00 AM? Check it out at:

Just 6 days later on August 10-12 is Southwest Divisional #3, sponsored
by Kumho Tires, featuring Roger Johnson's twisted idea of what a
nationals style courses should look like, again at the same great site.
SW Divisional #2 was a roaring success (ask anyone who was there) and
the same team is ready to do it again, except with an even better
welcome party and another Saturday night party featuring great food and
dog racing in the VIP area of the AIR CONDITIONED clubhouse. You can
still enter without a late fee at the August 4th event or before. Check
it out at:

For those of you not familiar with this site - Yes, it is big AND has
the bonus of the air conditioned dog track clubhouse (we will have porta

cans if you are too lazy to walk acrross the lot).

One thing to remember, warm weather is fairly common in Houston in
August. Please bring PLENTY of water to drink, shade, and rain gear (we
had a bit of rain here earlier this summer). For the divisional, we
again will have some "emergency" coolers out at the worker stations, the

same large tent for shade, and an air conditioned trailer to recover in
should you become overheated.
