The distinction is that cars get re-classed to a 'faster' class of the same
type (FSP to DSP, for example). In this case, a legal car becomes illegal
and has nowhere to go, except a higher prep class - SM, or SP.  

Note that with the proposed rule change the new illegality may be either an
engine swap, a door change, a dash change, a rear seat change, etc... 

ST is not sacred - but there are only two ST classes.  I've mentioned on
other forums that potentially a compromise is to allow driveline u/b in STX,
but not ST.  While that is fine for me, that doesn't help others who have
done u/b that don't want to go to STX.

Huh?  We do this all the time when cars seem out of line with the rest of
the class.  In fact, there's a couple of re-classing proposals in the recent
FastTrack.  Why should ST be sacred?
