My experience wasn't as bad. Actually, my wife registered my roadster for
me. At first, shock and dismay that the DMV wouldn't take our transaction
price as the taxable amount. Then my wife was told that if we could show
proof that what we paid was a reasonable amount, then they would accept our
price. So, my wife took in a printout of Datsun 1600 ads from
traderonline.com in, and they said "OK." This was at the Factoria DMV
