I looked at a '65 truck today; I'm still wavering on if I should have
bought it. It's too late for me (plus I've probably worn out my
welcome) but since there are other PL410/PL411/520/etc. owners on this
list, I thought I'd let you know if for nothing else, then for the
slightly unusual engine.
I knew it had a ~1500cc Datsun but expected to find an A15. It
actually has a J15, which I think is a non-US engine. I believe it is
externally identical to the E1/J13. According to datsuns.com, it has a
larger bore than the J13 but the stroke is the same.
I could not find any hp/torque ratings for this engine. I couldn't
find much of anything at all.
Anyway, if anyone out there has an E1/J13 powered car that is looking
for a replacement/bigger engine, this seems like a good candidate. The
truck ran pretty well (needs a tune-up) but needs too many things to be
a driver (for me, at least).
