1600 v 2000 driveshaft in KA24 conversion

I came across some notes from a conversion yesterday that indicated the KA24
conversion needed a u20 2 piece driveshaft - as a 1600 owner  - I don't
happen to have a comparison - can anyone tell me the differences in length
and/or if they know any functional reason other than lenght of course) to
use the U20 2 piece?
