Spent the weekend at Moroso Motorsports Park (near West Palm, FL) racing in
SCCA Vintage. It rained during the vintage race on Saturday. No rain on Sunday
but the heat was oppressive. The car performed flawlessly. The vintage group
out numbered all other groups including spec Miata which usually out numbers
all the race groups.
The list of vintage racers was really neat. Fiat 1300 Abarth, MGB, 2 Lotus
Elan coupes, Spitfire, Elva, 67 Vette, 914-6, 6 Formula Vees, something that
looked like a Lotus Super Seven but was much lower to the ground, 2 MG
Midgets, an open wheel of some sort with a 650HP Chev fuelie engine, some
kind of closed wheel sport racer and a couple I have forgotten.
Not being the most aggressive driver in the field I usually bring up the back
third of the pack. But the fun factor is what really counts.
