Hello All,
I have been in lurk mode on the list for a while and have been involved with
the home stretch on my restoration. Many people have asked when am I going
to update my website and I will do so once the car body is painted. So that
of course means it is not quite done. One thing about Ross, he is a
perfectionist and I am not about to rush him through.
The good news is that the car body is 98% beautiful and will soon be done.
After the priming, the base coats were put on and sanded with 400 and then
the little imperfections can be spotted and attended to. Once again the car
will be sanded with 500 and then the final base coat and then finally the
clear coat. Ross has told me the right rear quarter came out perfect. A
testament to his diligence when you realize how crappy it was when he got
it.
The engine and tranny have been rebuilt and the frame and suspension are
done. Very soon the body will drop onto the frame and then it will finally
start to look like a car again. Two and a half years of waiting are coming
to an end.
One bummer note: The car will not make it to Shasta. I had toyed with the
idea, but after talking with Ross I decided not to rush it just to make the
show. The car is scheduled for completion by September 1st, so it looks like
Turfside will be the car's public debut.
The car is going to be stunning when it is done and I will keep those
interested up to date as soon as I can. The car is coming along and will
soon be done.
