black: flat or gloss?

Here's a question about painting (or powder coating) the hood and rims 
on the rat.

It seems to be a common Japanese race car aesthetic to have a black 
hood and rims. Most of the cars I've seen in Nostalgic Hero, etc. seem 
to have a gloss black.

Did the Bondurant school cars have flat black or gloss? Flat might look 
good with the faded red paint on the rat.

Any opinions?
