I seem to recall reading about an incident in a mid-sixties Chevrolet
Corvair where a gentleman had his neck broken in a low speed crash when
the steering wheel with column came up and caught him under the chin.
Interestingly, he was a safety conscious individual for his era and was
wearing a seat belt which caused his demise, not allowing him to move up
and back with the intruding wheel.

The potential is there, but does anyone know if anyone actually has been
impaled by the steering column?
