Rick:   I have a 14.5" steering wheel on the BN1 vintage racer.  Not a 
problem whatsoever,  In fact its near perfect size for the application.  The 
one on my BN7 is stock (16.5"?).  no problem with that either except for 
autocrossing.....flailing arms.
