My experience.......

I've never had work done there, but 20 years ago I did frequently visit the
shop personally and buy parts there -- I would estimate about $500 worth in
all over two years. One thing I bought was a set of used chrome trim strips
for my BJ8 console for 5 bucks. Trouble was, they could only find one of them
so I took that, thinking I could get the other one later. After several more
visits, they still couldn't come up with another used strip. When they sent
me word that they had a new set available for 17 bucks, I took my one used
strip back and bought a new set from them, naively thinking they would refund
my 5 bucks because they couldn't come up with the other one. Well, they did,
partly. They agreed (very reluctantly), to take back the used one and refund
half my money --- $2.50

For that business decision they gave up all the money for parts I could have
bought from them but didn't in the last 20 years....

Ahhh..... it always feels so good to share that story.

I've done business with Healey Surgeons off and on for the last 20 years,
mostly for parts, often for used original parts when repros would not do.
Their phone support and knowledge have always been good in my opinion, and
I
have seen several cars that were either mechanically or completely restored
there, and they were all very good jobs. The parts have always been
correct,
or they have informed me, if what they had was not "as original".
I also would be absolutely flabbergasted if the kind of work you describe
came
out of their shop. I'd bet a lot that it didn't.

Healey Surgeons is a very highly thought of, professional, first class
operation. I'd bet money the shoddy work was done by a DPO.

I'm not affiliated with Healey Surgeons beyond the fact they advertise
in a magazine for which I am the commercial ad director. I'd just hate
to see an outfit I know to be top-notch to be accused of shoddy work.
