Many thanks to those who offered advice on installing a new windshield in my
BN1. The windshield is now installed in the frame. This assembly, however,
will not attach to the car. The problem is that the two pegs in each post
(stanchion) will not quite line up with the holes in the corresponding "foot".
I am nervous about forcing things to fit, for fear of creating a crack (see
Ron Fine's message). It seems that if the glass would more readily slide in
the frame mounting, then things might go together. Perhaps I should have used
silicone grease in the glazing rubber. As I understand it, silicone grease
does not attack rubber (unlike regular grease).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
