Bob,
I do not want to fight. Please don`t compare William Lyons with Donald Healey.
The right counterparts at BMC were Len Lord / George Harriman.
Lord/Harriman were responsible for the Healey development decisions in the
late 50s / early 60s.

Don't fight.
Plenty of us own both cars.
Re E-types and race, William Lyons never had the intention to race E-types,
nor to try break speed records. Lyons wasn't a pilot, but Donald Healey was
one, hence the differences.

on board. Jeremy is on the right track here I think. Numbers of customers and
orders go down in the Healey scene. Healey people are getting too old to race
;-). More and more move to the E-Types. Their potential is much higher
(standard E-Type engine +100 horsepower compared to a Healey) and people
attracted by the E-Type are younger.

Cars played in a different, in the premier league. Jaguar cars several times
won Le Mans and other top Historical Races. A Healey never did even reach the
finisher line at Le Mans.
