Marty,
Could you give me the yearly development budget of Jaguar Cars in the 60s and
then compared to this the budget they had for the Healeys? It was at least 10
times more.
They had the engine since 1947 and this needed just some refinements.
Don`t forget Jaguar bought other car manufacturers around this time.
Sorry you compare an elefant with a mouse.

Jaguar spent most of their development budget on their engine which resulted
in insufficient funds to develop out the rest of the car.
Most repair issues
on a Jag in my opinion are not related to the engine this is not to say the
rest of the drive line does not have issues.
Healey did not design and develop
their engine therefore they had money to spend on the rest of the car.

We
feel Jag got the motor right and Healey got the body right and that's why we
have done it three times.

Both cars suffered from slow shifting
transmissions so on the third Jag-Healey we put a Keisler Transmission in.
this company provides kits for both the 6 and the 12s. This transmission cuts
the 0-60 time in half. All three conversions were done on 100s.

The Jag
engine cylinder head design is extremely sufficient as well as the bottom end
was bullet proof. Healey engines lack in both these areas and suffered from
crankshaft whip because of the lack of main bearings.

Happy Healeying,
 Marty
