When I had new wheels and knock offs, they seemed to behave this way, as Mi=
chael says, when they were new, but it seemed the paint had to wear off on =
the taper surface of the wheel before everything tightened up properly...ju=
st an observation from a few years back- no trouble since.Stephen, BJ8

Hi Roger,
I have encountered that problem myself with new wheels and splines. so you =
are not alone. What was most confusing was that after tightening fully and =
removing the KO nut the wheel pulled off the spline easily so my theory abo=
ut slight interference on the spline did not hold water.=20
Never really found a cause and it went away after the wheels were run on th=
e road for a while after which the KO nut would spin on by hand and require=
 about 1/2 a turn of tightening=20
Please let me know if you figure out the cause..
BTW good video about making wire wheels here.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
