Mark,

What is your "Body" number?   It's the second number on an aluminum plate
screwed on the right hand side of the firewall in the engine compartment.
It's most likely a two, three or four digit number for a BN1. The first
number is always the "Batch" number and could be the same for up to 700
cars and is irrelevant for now.

Up to body no. 3396 the bonnets (proper English term) were aluminum.  From
body no.3397 onward the bonnets were steel.  BTW hood is the proper English
term for the convertible top.

The after market louvered bonnets from Moss and various suppliers are all
aluminum and quite nice, but they've gotten rather pricey.

They come up on eBay from time to time and run $300-$600.  BTW, the bonnets
along with the boot (trunk) lid were stamped with the body number from the
factory.

Prepare to have this professionally fitted by a good body man.
