The better mileage on pure petrol is only theoretical. In practice you 
will not notice at all. Ethanol has a lower energy content so you would 
require more ethanol than petrol for a given amount of energy. However 
there is only 5% maximum in petrol unless stated otherwise in Europe and 
a small bit of 5% is negligible and well within the tolerance of the 
accuracy of the measurement. I very much doubt if one can register an 
increase of 1% in mileage. There are so many other factors influencing 
mileage.
