I have considered doing the same.  Not sure that the same OD switch can 
be used.  Looks to me that the spacing between the gearshift lever 
socket and the top cover flange is wider on that side.  Kees thought a 
Jensen Healey version might be longer, but I haven't followed up with 
it.  The socket does have a flat to push against the switch.

Might be easier for (some?) 100-6 owners; doesn't the bell housing have 
a place to install a switch?
