I'm working with a group of guys to return a friend's Jag Mk3 to the road. =
We had to replace all of the center lock hubs, and of course the wheels as =
well. While looking for a source for these items we came across British Wir=
e Wheel Service. They beat everyone else's prices for the whole package by =
a pretty substantial amount and their service was exceptional. The parts ar=
rived promptly and are of very good quality and when we speculated on the p=
hone that we might need to replace the wheel bearings too they just threw t=
hem in.

We are very satisfied, as is the owner of the Jag who had to foot the bill.=
And while I can't guarantee they will give you free stuff I can still high=
ly recommend this company.

I have Dayton 5" 72-spoke chrome wire wheels on disk wheel hubs. These Day=
tons are not splined, but use a toothed backing plate that bolts to the rot=
or/hub and drum/hub assemblies. When I purchased it from the PO, it had be=
en sitting for 6 years and the wheels were perfectly true, so they are very=
robust and they look great, though beefier than the standard Dunlop wire w=
heel. Given that the car was originally a disk wheel car, if I ever have t=
o replace the wires, I would seriously consider Minilites.

As for tires, I run Vredestein Sprint Classic, 165/15. Very happy with the=
m. They are getting close to the end of their age cycle, and I plan to rep=
lace with the same.

It is a personal choice IMHO. I have both chrome spokes and minilites. D=
epending on mood and distance/road quality, I mount the appropriate wheels/=
tires.... If I'm going to be on cobblestones, or rough roads, I use the min=
ilites, if I'm driving around town, I use the Chromes.... However one thing=
I NEVER do: drive on 60 spoke wheels. Modern tires grip the road too we=
ll, and the spokes get destroyed. Use 72 spokes at least. The ONLY time =
I'd select 60 spokes (and I have them too) would be if I had a concourse ca=
r and it was being shown/judged. (I don't have a concourse car, I just ha=
ve a set of original wheels...and the tires are way past their expiration d=
ate, I'd never drive around the block on them...lol.).... But, as I said at=
the outset: it is a personal choice (YMMV... :-) )

Hi all,
I=92m getting closer to having to buy wheels and tires for my =9167 BJ8. Wh=
en I say closer I mean a year or so but I like to plan ahead. My car will n=
ot be concours correct or be entered in any car judging at shows. It=92ll b=
e a driver that won=92t see any track time of any sort. That being said I=
=92m wondering what everyone=92s thoughts are on wheels and tires. I plan t=
o put chrome wire wheels on. I don=92t want Minilite=92s. So, here are my q=
uestions:

1. Dunlop style(e.g. Moss) versus Dayton(e.g. Hendrix)?
2. Wheel size=9715x4.5 60 spoke; 15x5 72 spoke; or 15x5.5 72 spoke?
3. Tire Brand?
4. Tire Size?

I=92m not a bargain basement shopper so I=92m willing to pay for the best c=
ombinations that make sense. I realize there=92s a lot of personal preferen=
ce so I hope I=92m not gonna start a war with these questions!

Thanks everyone!
Bruce
