I replaced mine while the body and mechanicals were off the chassis and had=
 the same problem. When the car was assembled they were still too high and =
after about a year of frequent use they finally seem to be settling down to=
 normal height. I=92m wondering about the unity and tolerances of the repla=
cement units...

Just did this not too long ago.  You need a floor jack, bottle jack and a c=
argo strap.  Put the floor jack under the spring and axle and place the flo=
or jack under the spring with the u-bolt plate in place.  Wrap the strap un=
der the jack and over the axle and connect it to itself in a tight loop.  A=
ll you need to do then is to pump up the bottle jack and it lifts the sprin=
g right up to the axle.  Make sure the plate is positioned correctly so the=
 peg on the bottom of the spring goes into the hole in the u-bolt plate.  A=
lso remember to position the strap so it is not in the way when you put the=
 u-bolts in place.  Easy peasy.  See attached photos.
