This thread really separates the mechanically adept from those of us who 
like our MG, have some but limited ability to repair it,  but drive it 
hoping for the best.  In addition to taking many of the parts previously 
listed (which pretty much ensures that I'm not going to need them), on a 
long trip I'm inclined to also take:

1. A triple-A card
2. A cellular telephone and 12 dimes
3. A credit card
4. An unread novel
