I would agree with the basic sentiment, but you must realize that electronic
engine management is absolutely necessary to meet emissions requirements,
not to mention that it enables the incredible power output and flexibility
of modern engines. And is doubtless cheaper than somehow doing it sans
computers (if that were even possible).
Otherwise, yeah, the heck with power steering, brakes, windows, seats, top,
or ABS -- none of that is remotely necessary in a well-balanced small sports
car, it just runs the price up into the luxury category.
