Larry;
One of the places you are least likely to look is the rear hatch seal. If
you are smelling exhaust fumes, there is a good chance they may be coming in
through the seal, particularly when you have the door windows rolled down.
There is a low pressure area back there, and the air flow is from the hatch
forward through the car and out the side windows.
Just a guess.
