You are making things too difficult for yourselves.  A 71 has the Salisbury
or tube axle and as I said in my previous response these already have a
replaceable sleeve that slips onto the half-shaft that the oil seal runs on,
Part No. AAA982 Collar, Oil Seal, Moss Part No. 91 266-030, Collar.
