Mike,
Can't say for sure right now cause I'm not with my truck but by
guessing I would say the cowl vent on my '51 opens approx. 3". If you look
under the dash again and peer thru the WD40 mist you'll see that on the
linkage there are either indentions or holes that the lever "clicks" into so
that there are several preset positions that you can open the vent to. As
for your problem I'm going to have to leave that one to someone who knows,
cause I've never had a problem with mine (luckily) so I haven't had to
disect it. Good Luck ;)
