I rebuilt my rearend in my 1950 3100, I replaced the vent with a new one I
purchased at Heavy Chevy truck parts in Siloam Springs, AR. It was easier
then trying to locate one that would properly fit. It saved me a lot of
time and frustration trying to find the correct one to replace the ole one,
and it is a metal unit, not a plastic one that I had found on a lot of
vehicles. Unfortunately here in Chicago there are not a lot of junkyards
with older vehicles in them to try to salvage parts.

Newer ones press in, but older ones have pipe threads. Bring 7/16 open
wrench to remove a salvage unit.
