That having been said, I sure wish the original owner (Arizona Dept. of
Agriculture & Horticulture, I think) hadn't mangled the right rear fender
and the right side of the box on my '54 pickup when installing the side
carrier.  They did a very poor job of cutting & re-welding the fender, not
to mention the right rear corner of the cab is somewhat dented in, which
screws up the door catch on the passenger side.  Does anyone have photos
of a *good* spare tire mount on an AD truck?

I will say that the one time I had to change a tire on my ole truck, I was
somewhat glad that the spare was mounted on the side.  If there had been
snow all over the ground, I would have been even happier about the side
mount.  Still, there's a bit of work to be done before my passenger door
doesn't rattle so much as to scare my passengers into thinking it'll fly
open.
