I have a Borg Warner 3 speed OD behind my 235 with a 3.90 positrac six lug
truck rear. It gives the best of both worlds, good torque when taking off
and high speed on the highway. You should also consider upgrading the brakes
and rebuild the suspension to match the new speed potential. Going fast and
not being able to stop in time is not a good thing. Remember, these trucks
are 50 years old and everything is well worn.
