I have had good success removing the drums by the below method but not with 
a puller.  Enlist a second person and put a screwdriver/prybar on either 
side of the offending drum between it and the backing plate and while 
trying to pry it off smack the center of the axle with a hammer.  This 
works most of the time.
Just my $.02 worth.
