I think the 3/4 ton and larger panels have a longer wheel base, and
therefore the body is different behind the doors.  I have a 1/2 ton
suburban, and though I've never parked it next to one of the heavier trucks
to compare (nor have I measured one), I think they look longer and bigger.

There used to be one I'd see around town, but I haven't seen it for several
years.  I'd like to build a 1-ton suburban (don't think they made one)  with
dual wheels in the rear, setup to haul people and pull a trailer.  Its one
of those things I think about but likely will never do.

My 1/2-ton AD sub feels small on the inside compared to my '98 Chevy Venture
van.
