EGR's are a problem on any vehicle when it gets enough miles under
its belt, and very well could be what is causing the light. Always a good
idea to check over the basics first though, some lights will be triggered
if it senses abnormal coolant temps (remember, if you have a gauge,
its not on the same sensor. Just because the gauge reads good,
doesn't mean the computer sees the same) oil, air filter, etc. Check
for codes, but I wouldn't recommend blindly replacing whatever problem
it points at. The typical error on this one is an O2 code, people will replace
the O2 without any further checking. Many times the O2 is a indication
of something else wrong in the system.....any further diagnostics would
take a lot of explaining, and some decent tools. If its not fairly obvious
what is wrong, you might want to consider spending the money and
getting a trust-worthy shop to look at it. Don't ignore the problem, it
can get expensive very quickly when ignored. Cat's ain't cheap.
