Joe Curry and I have a couple of questions to ask any informed parties:

I have an overdrive transmission, J-Type that I will be putting into a 1978
Spitfire that came with a standard 4spd transmission.

I have bought the overdrive mount. My question is this:

What about the plate that bolts onto the chassis that the overdrive mount
bolts to?
The plate that is on the car right now has the standard 4 spd mount
attached but does not have any holes on it for the overdrive mount to
attach to.

Is the overdrive chassis plate and the standard 4 spd plate the same?
If it is not, what does the overdrive chassis plate look like?
I would like photos and measurements if possible so I can fabricate one.

Of course, If there is anybody out there that has an overdrive transmission
chassis plate that they would part with.. I'd also be interested.

Joe's questions are regarding a D-Type and J-Type overdrive unit.
Are the overdrive mounts the same for both transmissions?
Are the overdrive mount chassis plates the same for both transmissions?
Do the overdrive mount chassis plates differ with the different spit models?
