I have wire wheels, and I have gotten 4 flats in the last year!
One was a good honest flat from hitting a chunk of metal,
but the other three were due to inner tubes failing for no apparent reason.
The first time I had a local garage fix it, but they whined so much about
having to deal with it that I changed the other three myself. I did
it with a bunch of big screwdrivers, but this is sort of abusive to the
rims and the tire beads.
I recently bought a fix-a-flat can to use the next time this happens.
Since I usually end up tossing the tube anyway, there's no harm in trying it.
Also, my spare tire is on a "normal" rim.
I need to find a real set of tire irons (not the wimpy ones for emergency use).
Any leads?
