Bill,
You are "ALMOST" correct.  I show the FE engine number to be valid for the US 
(FDU) Mk3 Spitfires through 1970.

Sounds like a great combination to me.  Tiny Tim is a Mk1 with a 1296 engine 
from a Mk3 and (Hopefully) when I get through, he's going
to go from a cripple to a sprinter.
