You might be surprised.  This sounds just like mine was when I first got it
(in July!!).  Turned out the DPO had removed the thermostat completely.
A totally unnecessary modification as the temperature is just fine with
a thermostat installed.  Worth popping the goose-neck for a look.  Or maybe
just buy one and cahnge it even if there is one in there.
