  Hi Ron, the problem can be just the tolerance ring in the fan clutch.
  They go for around $9.00CAN at Obsolete Auto (www.obsoleteauto.com),
  part no. EN-RING-UKC759.  They also have the fan clutch listed for
  $189CAN, part no. EN-CLUTC-UKC3532.

  If the problem is with the clutch, I would change over to an electric
  fan.  Does anyone know after the conversion one can fit the older type
  water pump with the fixed fan (cheaper) instead of the newer one for
  the clutch fan?
