  I have 80w90 semi synthetic gear oil in my spit with OD.  The OD has no
  problems with it.  However I have hear some full synthetic will even 
  give a non OD gear problem by being too slippery for the synchros.  I think
  Red Line has mentioned they have solved the problem by adding some
  friction modifier in their full synthetic gear oil.
