Back in the day . . . 

When I was at IBM, and typewriters (remember them?) had wrinkle paint,
we would put the case in a regular home oven to heat it up to 150-200F
first, then spray the wrinkle paint, and it always looked like the
factory original.

Heat is the answer, but I don't think most hair dryers can suitably
heat up a metal part.  Direct sunlight on a hot day should work, but I
suspect you don't have access to that heat source.
