Scott,

When I turn on the emergency flashers, by pulling the 'knob', that knob
lights up and blinks with the outside blinkers.  What I'm talking about
is another thingy, just under the emergency flasher knob.  Are you saying
it should also flash?  Sounds redundant, two blinking lights on the dash
just 2 inches from each other.  What am I missing.

There are no shorted bulbs or wires that I can find, and like I said,
EVERY light, bulb, indicator. instrument light, etc., is working.
