Amazing - the 1967 Mk II that hasn't started since 1985 roared to life not
half an hour ago - after a winter, spring and part of summer rebuilding it!!
Thanks to all who supplied invaluable advice as I worked through one issue
after another. The last hurdle was timing - and the fact that the spark plug
leads were plugged into the cap 180 degrees wrong!!

Now, a new problem - I can't get it to idle. It fires up immediately and
roars - and I mean roars! It's like it's running flat out - there is almost
no throttle change from nothing to full out. Also, the choke doesn't seem to
make any difference. I've checked the carb throat, and the butterflies are
closed right off when the throttle is "off" (ie" pedal not depressed). Carbs
are smooth moving and the choke is off, but it fires on one turn of the key
and revs at the max almost immediately. Also, the tachometer goes all the way
around and then doesn't move anymore - how do I "calibrate" these old
"analogue" tachs?

Help, yet again!!
