Every so often someone asks for a recommendation for insurance for our LBCs.
I've just had a good experience from American Collectors Insurance Co that I
want to share.

Back in July, someone clipped the back rear corner of my 80 Spit while it
was in a parking garage near work. Broke the right rear tail lamp to
pieces and put a 4-inch dent into the fender at the corner molding. As
soon as it happened, I called the insurance company for notification. I
didn't want to turn in a claim at that time because I wanted to nail the
errant hit and run (SOB) driver. I spent the next couple of months trying
to track down the culprit, hoping that the security cameras located all
around the parking garage would show me whodunit. No luck. The cameras
were turned on, but no one had bothered to change the videotape at the end
of the shift!

My insurance had three stipulations, not over 2,500 miles per year, not the
primary mode of transportation, and kept in a locked garage. I had all
three covered. However, I was worried that I had taken the Spit to work
that day (so I could go see my mechanic on the way home) and that they would
say that I violated the terms of the insurance contract. So, in early
October, I called the American Collectors Insurance Co. again to see what I
had to do, and spoke to a very nice person named Diane. She told me what
information that I needed to provide to her. I had taken photos of the
damage back in July and printed them out for her. I also submitted two
repair estimates, along with the claim form, and mailed the claim
information on October 6th. They got the information on the 9th, and a
check was cut on October 10th, received October 15th. I picked up my Spit
today, all repaired and repainted.

It's nice when a company keeps up with their end of their agreement! NFI.
