I tend to agree with Richard, it sounds like a DPO issue.  As for things
to be aware of post '76 is the OPUS electronic ignition.  If and when
you start having odd ignition problems, my experience is to start here.
You can either change it back to points, or replace it with something
like the Petronix.

They are little clamps about in the middle of the spring that are
compressing the spring, making the ride lower.  My question is, is this
factory, or did the DPO do this?  What is the reason for it?

Any special areas on this year spit that I should look for considering
I'm mostly familiar with the round-tail spits?
