If anyone has an answer to Carols problem please let me know!!!!
My Mini has been like this for 4 years now.
All new (not rebuilt) cylinders, hoses, shoes, adjusters, pipes, etc. 100% new.
The pedal is hard and up top until you roll the car 2 feet, then it goes to the
floor.
One pump and it is hard again.
If it sits for a month without rolling, the pedal stays hard. Again move the car
and it goes to the floor.
(this car has twin leading shoes in front just like a bugeye) 4 wheel drum.
