Paul keeps asking me to send the stats on my weber for his web site, and I
keep procrastinating. (Sorry Paul). Like anything else it is easy to over
kill on the Weber setup, and this is where the problems with dead spots and
low end torque come from. With a stock or mild performance setup, a 40 DCOE
is plenty of carburetor. With a little juggling of the timing, and idle
mixture, my Midget doesn't suffer from the dead spot at low Rpm's others
have mentioned. Based on my limited, biased, personal experience, (YMMV)
the Weber allows easier cold weather starting, zero maintenance, zero
adjustments, zero balancing, no dash pots to fill, a great induction growl
under full throttle, and looks cool. If you have a 45DCOE, don't over do it
on the chokes. Larger diameter chokes might coax out the last few high rpm
hp, but at the sacrifice of low rpm driveability. (If this post makes me
sound like a self appointed expert, sorry. I'm simply a legend in my own
mind.)
