It's my understanding that the early TR4s came with the painted dash, but the
wood was offered as an option later.  Mine is a '63, serial number in the
18,000 range, with steel dash.  In fact I just today visited it in the paint
shop where they had finished repainting the metal dash.  I think I much
prefer the metal to wood, especially after reading the wood dash thread.
